Girls’ Night In

With the weather turning colder each day, going out for a night of fun seems like more and more of a struggle. So, instead of braving the outdoors, here’s a guide for all the necessities you’ll need for a Girls’ Night In.

Food:

The first thing you’ll want to have is food. This buffalo chicken dip is to die for, and the fruit dip is so yummy, you’ll want to eat the whole bowl by yourself!

Buffalo Chicken Dip
2 (10 ounce) cans chunk chicken, drained
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup ranch dressing
3/4 cup pepper sauce
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
Heat chicken and hot sauce in a non-stick pan over medium heat (our Dutch Oven would be perfect!), until cooked through. Stir in cream cheese and ranch dressing. Cook, stirring until well blended and warm. Mix in half of the shredded cheese and transfer the mixture to a slow cooker. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top, cover, and cook on low setting until hot and bubbly. Serve with vegetables and crackers.

Drinks:

The next thing on the list of essentials is drinks – and what would be more fitting for a girls’ night than wine? To cover all your bases, I recommend one white and one red – but it’s also important to keep in mind wine and food pairings. One of my personal favorites is Mirassou Moscato, which should pair very nicely with the fruit dip. Another good option is Anew Riesling – it’s a slightly bubbly, slightly sweet Riesling that won’t break the bank! As a fan of white wine, I can’t give much accurate insight into reds, but a quick Google search will point you in the right direction when you’re unsure about what wine to get.

Entertainment:

There are a lot of different options for entertainment – movies, for the more laidback crowd, to games such as Apples-to-Apples, for the more energetic and rowdy crowd. Here are a few of my personal favorites that should have something for everyone!

Watch a movie:
Bridesmaids (2011) – this hilarious female-lead comedy will have you and the girls in tears from laughing so hard.

Play a game:
Apples-to-Apples (card game) – this is a great game that can accommodate any number of people, and is guaranteed to make everyone laugh.

Have an at-home spa:
Get some nail polish, face masks, and foot scrubs to create your very own spa. It’s the perfect excuse to have someone else do your nails, too (if you’re like me and not very good at doing your own).

Start your own Celebrity Fantasy Draft:
It’s fantasy football season, which means men have taken over the TVs and will be glued to every single football game for the next 3 or so months. That means it’s the perfect time to start your own celebrity fantasy league with your girlfriends! CelebrityFantasyDraft.com lets you build your own “draft” of celebrities in a similar fashion. The goal is to draft celebrities who will make the pages in weekly magazines, with scoring based on their behavior and which magazine they make it into. Starting at only $20 for an 8-week session, this could be the answer to all of your fantasy football problems – and cause for a recurring girls’ night!
