August Party Theme: Game Night

It’s time to bring out your competitive side! For a night in with friends, or something fun to do with the family, game night has everything you need. You share, you laugh, and most importantly, you win! Check out these three essentials for throwing a can’t-miss game night experience!

 Essential 1: Food and Drink

Game nights are great because the food consists of all the best parts of a meal: appetizers and desserts. For a fun and healthy game-themed treat, try this fruit salad recipe shaped like a Rubik’s Cube!Rubik's Cube Fruit Salad

Directions: First cube all of the watermelon and feta cheese. Next alternate the cube pieces, forming a 3×3 cube. Break off toothpicks and place them down the center of each row to hold the cubes in place. Finally, garnish with the spearmint sprigs. Serves 2.

Essential 2: Decorations

With so many different kinds of games to choose from, decorating can be a very fun task. Label the food you’re serving with Scrabble tiles or hang up boards from games like Sorry! on the wall. If you’re feeling crafty, try creating labels for water bottles featuring your favorite games. Simply find the image you wish to print (we used Monopoly spaces) and then print and tape them to the bottles.

Essential 3: Entertainment

With so many games to play, it’s hard to choose just one or two for your game night. To help you narrow down all of the entertaining choices, we picked our top favorites at the Big Basket. Here’s what the people of the Home Office just can’t get enough of:

  1. Monopoly
  2. Life
  3. Catchphrase
  4. Scrabble
  5. Trivial Pursuit
