June Party Theme: Beach Bash

Are you longing to hear the sound of the ocean? Or collect seashells and build sandcastles? Then try throwing this month’s party theme: Beach Bash! Even if you can’t take your dream vacation to the beach this year, you can still enjoy the sand and sun at your next party! Try out these three party essentials to help make your beach bonanza the party of the summer:

Mash Up 3

Essential 1: Food and Drinks

Who wants to spend time in the kitchen cooking, when blue skies and warm sunshine are beckoning? The great thing about the beach theme is that the food can be something simple, but with a little creativity, it can also be a lot of fun. For example, you could pop your favorite popcorn and put it into clean sand pails.

To spice up your chip and veggie tray, try this dip recipe:

Beer Cheese Dip

In a mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, mix the cream cheese and goat cheese together. Slowly add the beer and mix until it is incorporated. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until combined. Chill an hour before serving. Offer with toasted pita chips, crackers or crudités. The dip can be prepared two days in advance. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Makes about a cup.

Essential 2: Decorations

Seashells, flip flops, palm trees; decorating for this theme can be even easier than preparing the food. If you’re looking for something a little more intricate, try making your very own sand candles. They can act as centerpieces and keep the party going when the sun goes down!

Essential 3: Entertainment

This theme allows for a lot of different kinds of entertainment, from music to games. If you’re looking for something interactive, try putting together a treasure hunt for your guests where they have to search for beach-themed items, such as towels or sunscreen. The great thing about a treasure hunt is that it can be worked to fit virtually any age group or type of event. If it’s a party for your kids, try giving them little baskets and send them to hunt for fish-shaped chocolates. Or if you’re looking to throw an adults-only bash, play up the competition by breaking people into teams and sending them to solve riddles or difficult clues to find the hidden items. Have some fun with your items or clues, and this activity can be as fun to create as it is to play!
